John McNeur
John McNeur found his love of theatre at an early age, creating a theatre troupe with his neighborhood playmates in San Francisco. They called themselves The Lawton Street Players and actually staged productions. He continued his interest in theatre throughout adult life as a theatre impresario, director and music director of several productions including many G&S operettas. He also founded the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York, performing regularly at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and leading summer performance tours to Europe, China and New Zealand. Trained as a classical flutist, John played in and conducted several orchestras and chamber ensembles in New York and New England. After retiring from his position as Director of Music & Performing Arts for the Herricks (Long Island) Public Schools in 2012, he explored new possibilities as a SAG movie extra, a voice over artist, a NYC tour guide and a Central Park docent. He has three adult children and six grandchildren ranging in age from three to twenty nine. He loves to travel, has recently fallen in love with Pickleball and can usually be found on the courts at Sellwood or Laurelhurst Parks. John is thrilled to be an active member of the LOoP Board and return to the stage in its production of Patience. More about John can be found at ( www.JohnCMcNeur.net ).
